Web Quests

Web Quests are internet based research exercises. They usually consist of several components.

  • A quest or a challenge. This may take the form of an imaginary journey through a FAIRYTALE world, a fact finding mission through SPACE, finding appropriate ANIMALS to be exhibits in a zoo, solving a WATER crisis or TRAVEL to another land.
  • A set list of criteria which must be filled for the proper completion of the quest;
  • A basic or comprehensive list of internet sites which will help the participant in the quest.
  • Often some on-line print resources such as a DATA RECORDING SHEET.
  • Often a defined method of presentation is required. e.g. A KID PIX or a POWERPOINT presentation or a more simple oral or written form.
  • An evaluation RUBRIC is often included. This serves a dual purpose. It helps to guide the participant through the requirements of the quest as well as providing a pre-defined form of assessment .

There are many great web Quests available on the internet. Many of them are included in this WEB QUEST MATRIX and WEBQUESTS and many more can be found by entering the required area followed by the term 'Webquest" in a search engine such as GOOGLE.
